Square Fold Cards

I learned how to make a fun square fold card earlier this week, so I thought I'd share it with you today! I learned about this in one of my Close To My Heart consultant Facebook groups, and we were challenged to try making our own card this week. I started making a few cards yesterday to use up my remaining No Worries scraps, and I ended up making nine cards!

Here's the first card I made. I'll tell you a little bit about it and the dimensions of the card, and then I'll share the rest of my cards.

When folded, the card measures four inches square, so it fits in a standard size envelope. I rarely mail anything in a square envelope because then you have to pay more postage. Crazy, right? As I mentioned above, I was using up some of my scraps from the No Worries paper packet. I decided to use ovals cut with our Basic Ovals Thin Cuts because I already had a few cut from an earlier project.

The card base is actually 4x12 inches, and then you score it in thirds at the four-inch marks. Cut off the corners and fold it in to the middle. The white cardstock in the middle measures 3.75 inches square. For the outside patterned papers, cut a 3.75-inch square and then cut it in half on the diagonal. Then you can flip the patterns over or mix and match with other patterns. Depending on the pattern, you may only be able to use it in one direction.

With the card closed, attach a piece of foam tape to the right flap and attach the oval. Do not put adhesive on the left side of the oval so the card can still open. That's probably as clear as mud, but if you have any questions, please feel free to comment below or contact me! And if you'd like to try your hand at making one of these, I'm probably going to add one to my August card buffets!

Here are the other eight cards I created. I'm sharing a picture of the front and then the inside of the card. I did use several different stamp sets, so I'll comment below the picture with the name of the stamp set (and a link if it's still available).

Card Buffets

I've really enjoyed having monthly card buffets this year. Each month I offer a variety of cards, but I always have several made with the featured paper packet for the month. In August, the featured paper packet is Jack!

Here's how it works: You come and make as many cards as you want in the two-hour class time. Each card is $2 and they are all designed and pre-cut for you; all you do is put them together. There are several cards from which to choose.

All you have to do is bring adhesive, and I provide the rest! I suggest bringing a regular paper adhesive, glue dots, and some kind of foam tape. If you don't have adhesive or would just like to use mine, I can provide what you need for $3.00.

Please contact me or sign up on the Facebook event pages no later than the day before each buffet.

August Scrapbooking Workshop

The Jack scrapbooking workshop kit provides you with enough materials to create three 12x12 two-page layouts. It also provides you with the paper and embellishments for six cards! With this kit you receive a full Jack paper packet, 1 pack of Jack Complements, one roll of Whisper Thick Twine, one pack of Black & White Dots, and four sheets of cardstock (1 Juniper, 2 Whisper, 1 White Daisy).

The workshop costs $35, which covers your workshop kit, shipping and tax, and instruction. If you have already ordered the kit on your own but would still like to come to the workshop, please bring $3.00 to cover my instructional time.

Optional Additional Services:
$5 - I will provide any adhesive you need, including foam tape.
$5 - I will cut all of your paper ahead of time so you can just assemble and decorate the layouts the day of the workshop.

Here are the other two layouts you will complete in addition to the one above.

Please contact me or sign up on the Facebook event page no later than Wednesday, August 16.

I hope you'll plan on joining me for some of these events - I'm really excited about them! If you have any questions, please ask. And if you're not on Facebook, you can still sign up by calling, texting, or emailing me directly.

Fiesta Card

Today I'm sharing a pretty simple card I made with my Prickly Pear scraps. Lately, one of the easiest ways for me to make a card is to just use what I already have! I store all of my smaller scraps from each paper packet in a 4x6 plastic container, so I can just dig through them to find pieces that work well together.

For this card I had a larger strip of the Emerald paper that I just trimmed down to 5 1/4 inches to fit on the front of the card. Then I cut down a 3x4 pocket card from the Prickly Pear paper packet to use as the sentiment. I found a strip of Lemon patterned paper and added some Blue Burlap Ribbon. To finish off the card, I added a heart embellishment that I had previously made for another project.

I made several of these hearts and some flowers last week to use on my Prickly Pear scrapbooking layouts. Using VersaMark ink, I stamped the images onto several different colors of cardstock, put white embossing powder on them, and heat embossed them. Then I cut them out with our Thin Cuts. All the images come from the Prickly Pear scrapbooking stamp set and coordinating Thin Cuts.

Thanks for stopping by today! If you have any questions about my card or the products I used, please contact me. I'd be happy to help!

You Are Here Cricut Collection

Close To My Heart has a brand-new Cricut collection that will be available August 1st, and I want to share it with you today!

I absolutely love this collection of images, stamp sets, and paper. In fact, I think it's my favorite collection Close To My Heart has created! The collection is called You Are Here, and although it seems to be travel themed, it's so much more than that! There are lots of everyday images and fun expressions, and the alphabet is very versatile.

The physical collection retails for $99, or you can purchase the digital collection for $79. Both collections contain the same shapes; the digital version is just accessed using an online code rather than a physical cartridge, and you don't receive a printed booklet.

And besides the collection of 700 images, you also receive three D-size stamp sets and a pack of Enchantment cardstock. That's $68.35 worth of product in addition to the cartridge - so you're really only paying $30.65 for the physical cartridge or $10.65 for the digital version! Our Cricut collections really are a great deal!

Here are pictures of the three stamp sets included in the You Are Here collection:

I also wanted to share with you pictures of the printed booklet that came with the physical cartridge. There are quite a few pictures, but I wanted you to be able to see everything that you can make with this cartridge!

Isn't it incredible?! I just love this collection, and I can't wait to get creating!

Remember, this cartridge isn't available until August 1st, but feel free to contact me with any questions or to book a home gathering for August. As a hostess, when you reach a qualifying level, you could get this collection for half price!!

Thanks for stopping by!
