Oh Deer! Workshop Layouts (Part 2)

I'm back today with the rest of the layouts I made with the Oh Deer! Workshops Your Way Scrapbooking Kit. I shared two of my layouts this past Wednesday, so if you haven't seen that post first, please check it out.

Here's what's included with the Oh Deer! scrapbooking kit:

All of the Workshops Your Way scrapbooking kits come with all the product and instructions needed to make three two-page layouts that have already been designed for you. Most of the time I simply follow the cutting guide and make the layouts pretty close to how they're shown in the instructions, but this time I decided to change things up a bit.

I made the first two layouts almost exactly the way they were designed, and I really love how they turned out. But when I went to start the third layout, I didn't want to do it the same way they did. In fact, I wanted to change it into two one-page layouts instead of one two-page layout. And so I did!

Here's how the third layout was originally designed:

There's nothing wrong with this layout; it just didn't appeal to me or work with any pictures I could find. I had already cut the paper according to the cutting guide, so I worked with the papers as they were. I did trim a few pieces and add in some scraps, but almost everything came from the original workshop kit. I think I did include a scrap of Oh Deer! paper from the Thinking of You cardmaking kit.

Here's my first one-page layout:

This layout used the papers from the right-hand side of the original layout, but I didn't use all of them. I also added some of the 3x4 cut-apart cards for the title and my journaling. The pack of Oh Deer! Complements comes with lots of extra bits and pieces, so I had plenty of things to use for my title and my embellishment clusters.

-------------------------

Here's my second one-page layout:

This layout started out with just the papers from the left-hand side of the original layout, but I added some more strips of paper to fill it out. I used the original title embellishment, and then I added some more pieces from the Oh Deer! Complements pack.

-------------------------

I am having two workshops at the end of December where I will walk you through putting together the Oh Deer! layouts from the scrapbooking kit. If you're interested in signing up, please email, call, or text me.
  • Thursday, December 29
  • 2:00-4:00 or 6:30-8:30
  • $35 (covers scrapbooking kit, tax, shipping, and my instruction)
You can find more details over on my Upcoming Events page!

-------------------------

Thanks for taking a look at my layouts, and I hope they inspire you to make your own pages and get your stories told!

Thanks,
Bethany Rielage

Oh Deer! Workshop Layouts (Part 1)

Today I'm sharing with you two of the two-page layouts I've made from the Oh Deer! Workshops Your Way Scrapbooking Kit.

I was actually a little hesitant about this kit because I wasn't sure what pictures I would use with it. But - as always - I was able to find pictures that worked perfectly!

Here's the first layout I made with the kit:

These are some pictures from this year's Thanksgiving, and I think they work really well with the title, the journaling card, and the embellishments.

-----------------------

Here's the second layout I made according to the workshop directions:

These pictures are from several years ago, and I hadn't gotten around to scrapbooking them yet. I'm glad I waited because they match this paper perfectly!

-----------------------

I will be back on Friday with some more layouts using the Oh Deer! paper packet, and I'll show you how I changed up the third layout from the workshop kit!

I am having two workshops at the end of December where I will walk you through putting these layouts together. If you're interested in signing up, please email, call, or text me.

  • 2:00-4:00 or 6:30-8:30

The Mojo Monday sketch challenge blog is taking a holiday break until Monday, January 2, 2017, so I don't have a new card to share with you this week. However, in lieu of a new card, I thought I'd share some links to some of the first Mojo Monday card challenges that I did!

Card sketches can be used over and over and don't have to be recently published. I hope you'll take some of these ideas and make your own cards this week!

Thinking of You Cardmaking Workshop

  • Saturday, December 17
  • 2:00-4:00
  • $25 (covers cardmaking kit, tax, shipping, and instruction)

Close To My Heart has four cardmaking kits available in their current seasonal catalog, and we'll be working with the Thinking of You kit in December. This one is my favorite of all four kits!

This kit contains materials for creating 10 cards. Easy-to-follow instructions guide you in creating two different card designs, but thanks to the interchangeable designs and stamp sentiments, you can make your cards your way!

Kit Contents:

Because your kit includes a stamp set for you to keep and plenty of leftover supplies, you can continue to make cards after the workshop is over!

The kit comes with everything you need, except for inks and blocks, which I will provide during the workshop. You will need to bring adhesive and basic tools.

Optional Additional Services:
$5 - I will provide any adhesive you need.
$3 - I will cut all of your paper ahead of time so you can just assemble and stamp the cards the day of the workshop.

Sign-Up Deadline:
The deadline to sign up for this workshop is today, Wednesday, December 7! This will allow me time to order the kits so they arrive in time.

If you would like to complete these cards but can't make it to the workshop on the 17th, please contact me and we can set up another time.

Thanks,

Mojo Monday 477 - Thinking of You

Happy Monday! I hope your week is off to a great start! I'm here with another card for the Mojo Monday weekly sketch challenge.

Here's the sketch for this week's challenge:

And here's my card for this week:

My card this week features the Oh Deer! paper packet from Close To My Heart and the December stamp of the month set, Thoughtful Flowers.

Every month Close To My Heart has a special stamp of the month set that is only available during that month. You can purchase the stamp set at full retail price, or you can get it for only $5 with a $50 order. It's a great way to save some money on stamp sets!

I stamped both the image and the sentiment in Slate ink, and then I used a sponge dauber and some Sea Glass ink to color in the flowers.

I cut out a heart from both Slate and Sea Glass cardstock with the Hearts Thin Cuts, and then I put the Slate outline around the Sea Glass solid heart before adhering it to my card. I finished off the card with some Bitty Sparkles on the flowers.

I hope this inspires you to do some crafting today!

Friday Favorites - Mini Albums

I love to make 12x12 scrapbooking layouts, but that's not the only way that I like to scrapbook. Over the past several years, I have really enjoyed making mini albums. There are many different kinds of mini albums, and I wanted to share with you a few that I have done.

This is one of the first mini albums I ever made, and it was just for Christmas 2007. I used an 8x8 post-bound album and 8x8 page protectors. It's basically a smaller version of a typical 12x12 album.

-------------------------

This is a 6x6 album that I made about my very first cruise back in 2004. I used a post-bound album with 6x6 page protectors and attached a few pieces of memorabilia to the front and back inside covers.

-------------------------

This album is probably my favorite! I made this 6x8 album about the anniversary trip my husband and I took to Disney World in 2013. For this mini album I used a ring-bound 6x8 album with both page protectors and 6x8 cardstock pages. I also used some divided page protectors as you can see in the picture above. It was so much fun to put together!

-------------------------

This is a small 4x4 album I made just for selfies of me and my daughter. It's a ring-bound album and uses 4x4 page protectors. I haven't added any embellishments yet, and I'm not sure that I will. I kinda like just looking through pictures!

-------------------------

This is the most recent mini album that I've worked on. This is another 6x8 ring-bound album - much like the Disney album I showed above. This one will be all about the Seattle/Alaska trip we took this summer. I'm using the Everyday Life Stripes album from Close To My Heart, and I'm using a mix of page protectors and My Crush Adventure Calls cardstock pages.

I hope you enjoyed seeing some examples of mini albums, and if you'd ever like to look through any of my albums, just let me know! I'd be happy to show them to you.

-------------------------

If you love making mini albums or would like to give them a try, Close To My Heart has the perfect special for you this month. During December you can get several different mini album bundles for 30% off their regular retail price!

Stamp of the Month: Thoughtful Flowers
The stamp of the month for December is really pretty, and I'm looking forward to doing some heat embossing with these beautiful flowers.

Mojo Monday 476 - Joyeux Noel

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I guess we're now officially into the Christmas season, so I have a holiday card for you this week for Mojo Monday.

Here's the sketch for this week's challenge:

And here's my card:

I know the sketch is a square, but I very rarely send square cards in the mail, so I just adapted the sketch!

I just received my Snowflakes Embossing Folder in the mail this past week, so I wanted to use it for today's card. I love how well it pairs with the beautiful papers from the Oh Deer! Paper Packet.

Overall, the card is pretty simple, but I think that helps the embossed snowflakes and the heat-embossed sentiment stand out even more. I added a little gold ribbon from the Uptown Ribbon Pack, but that's all the extra embellishing I did.

Here are the supplies that I used for this card:

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Mojo Monday 475 - Thankful!

Happy Monday! For my Mojo Monday card this week, I decided to stick with a fall/thankful theme since it is Thanksgiving week. I love Thanksgiving, and I'm so looking forward to time with family, good food, and also some paper crafting!

Here's the sketch for this week's challenge:

And here's my card:

My card this week features the Swan Lake paper packet and my current favorite stamp set - Woodland Critters. I just can't get enough of that little raccoon!

I stamped the raccoon in Slate ink, and then I stamped the speech balloon sentiment and the little heart in Poppy. I love that this stamp set coordinates with our Artistry Cricut cartridge, so I have lots of pre-cut speech balloons all ready to go!

The very back paper is actually one of the 4x6 cut-apart cards from the Swan Lake paper packet. Don't you just love the detailed leaves on it?

To finish off the card, I edged everything in Whisper ink and added a few Grey Enamel Gems. I think it turned out nicely!

If you have any questions about anything I talked about today or any of the products I used, please feel free to contact me.

Thanks for stopping by today, and I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving week!

Thanks,
Bethany Rielage
