February Workshops!

I have three different workshops scheduled for February, and one of them is brand new! I also have two free craft nights scheduled for the month. All of this information is always available on my Upcoming Events page in case you forget about anything. I look forward to crafting with you this month!

Coffee & Cards

I love drinking coffee and I love making cards - so I decided to combine them for a new workshop this month! During this workshop you will complete 12 cards while enjoying coffee and some light snacks.


The cost of the workshop covers all of your materials (including adhesive), coffee and snacks, the use of my supplies, and my instruction. If you would like me to cut your paper for you, it will be an additional $3.

At the workshop you will receive the Mother's Day Cardmaking Kit. This kit includes an exclusive workshop stamp set, two sheets of Sugar Rush patterned paper, one pack of white twine, one pack of Sugar Rush dots, and two sheets of cardstock (1 Raspberry, 1 White Daisy). All of these materials are yours to keep!


The workshop stamp set includes a thank you sentiment and a Mother's Day sentiment. If you don't want to make all of your cards with these two sentiments, I will provide additional stamps and ideas for making different cards with your workshop materials.




Sign-Up Deadline
The sign-up deadline is Wednesday, February 8. This allows me to order the kits in time for the workshop.

Card buffets are one of my favorite types of workshops, so I'm having one every month in 2017! Each month I will have many different types of cards, but I'll be focusing on the featured paper packet from Close To My Heart for the month. In February, that's Hello Lovely!

(we will be making three cards similar to these)

Here's how it will work: You come and make as many cards as you want in the two-hour class time. Each card is $2 and they are all designed and pre-cut for you; all you do is put them together. There are several cards from which to choose.

All you have to do is bring adhesive, and I provide the rest! I suggest bringing a regular paper adhesive, glue dots, and some kind of foam tape.

Sign-up Deadlines:
The sign-up deadline for the Sunday, February 19 card buffet is Saturday, February 18.
The sign-up deadline for the Tuesday, February 21 card buffet is Monday, February 20.

Here are some questions and answers you may have about my card buffet:
  • What do I need to bring to the buffet? All you need to bring is adhesive. I suggest bringing a regular paper adhesive, glue dots, and some kind of foam tape.
  • How many cards can I make? You can make as many cards as you can within the two-hour class time. All I ask is that you finish each card completely before starting on another one.
  • How much does it cost? You pay by the card, and it's $2.00 per card, which includes envelopes. There are a few ways to get some cards for free. For each friend you register and bring with you (who has never been to one of my workshops or classes), you will get a free card. If you decide to place an order at the class, you will get a free card for every $25 you spend (before tax and shipping). Combine bringing friends and placing an order, and you could get all your cards for FREE!
  • How much time will it take to make each card? That mostly depends on how and how quickly you work. Some cards are more detailed, while others are pretty simple.

Hello Lovely Scrapbooking Workshop

For my February scrapbooking workshop, we will be using the Workshops Your Way Hello Lovely Scrapbooking Kit.


This workshop kit retails for $26.95 and provides you with enough materials to create three 12x12 two-page layouts. It also provides you with the paper and embellishments to make 9 cards! Plus you have extra scraps!

Here are the three layouts you will make with this kit:




Cost:
The cost of the workshop is $35. This covers the cost of the kit, shipping, tax, and my instruction. If you have already ordered the kit on your own but would still like to come to the workshop, please bring $3.00 to cover my instructional time.

Sign-up Deadline:
The deadline to sign up for this workshop is Wednesday, February 15. The deadline allows me to order the kits in time.

Optional Additional Services:
$5 - I will provide any adhesive you need, including foam tape.
$5 - I will cut all of your paper ahead of time so you can just assemble and decorate the layouts the day of the workshop.

Mojo Monday 482 - Adore You

It's the fifth and final Monday of January, and I have another card for you today!

Here's the sketch from this week's Mojo Monday challenge:


And here's my card:


I don't really like to make square cards, so whenever there's a square sketch, I just adapt it for my normal size.

For this week's card I used paper from the Sugar Rush paper packet, and the stamped images come from the January Stamp of the Month set, Adore You.


I have really enjoyed making cards with this stamp set, and I think it could be really pretty on a scrapbooking layout as well. This stamp set is only available in January, and you can get it for only $5 with a qualifying order.

I stamped the heart image on White Daisy cardstock with Memento black ink, and then I used some Shinhan alcohol markers to color in the flowers. I stamped the sentiment onto the Blossom patterned paper and added a few Sugar Rush dots for some bling. The circle was cut from Sea Glass cardstock.

Coffee & Cards

I love drinking coffee and I love making cards - so I decided to combine them for a new workshop coming in February! During this workshop you will complete 12 cards while enjoying coffee and some light snacks.

Mojo Monday 481 - Birthday Wishes

I'm a little late this week, but I do have a new Mojo Monday card to share with you. I'm using the Sugar Rush paper again this week since it's the featured paper packet for the month of January.

As I mentioned above, I used the Sugar Rush paper packet for this card.


I also used the stamp set Birthday Sparkles.


I stamped the sentiment in Pomegranate, and then I stamped the confetti stars in Canary and Tangerine. I edged all the paper with Whisper ink, and then I added a few Sugar Rush Dots to finish it off.

Sugar Rush Layout #1

I am finally getting around to putting together the scrapbooking layouts from the Workshops Your Way Sugar Rush Scrapbooking Kit. I've had the paper cut for awhile, but I just haven't had time to put everything together. I also prefer to have pictures printed for when I put them together, and I hadn't had time to look for those either. But today I have my first two-page layout to share with you!

Here it is:


I found pictures for this layout from a trip to Hershey, Pennsylvania back in 2012. I had never gotten around to scrapbooking these pictures, but they ended up being perfect for this layout!


I did change up the layout a bit from the original layout in the instructions. Instead of using the Pomegranate washi tape on the top and bottom of the layout, I used the Sea Glass heart washi - I just wanted a little more Sea Glass on my layout. I also decided to mat my photos with some Pomegranate and Sea Glass cardstock to help them stand out against the patterned paper. I also changed up some of the embellishments, but I kept the patterned paper and the photo placement the same.


I really love how it turned out, and I'm looking forward to putting together the other two layouts using the fun Sugar Rush paper!

Mojo Monday 480 - Sugar Rush

I'm back! We've been gone on vacation for the past two weeks, but we are now home, and I'm happy to be creating and blogging again! I was able to whip up a card pretty quickly this afternoon for this week's Mojo Monday challenge.

Here's this week's sketch:


And here's my take on it:


I did change up quite a few things from the original sketch, but that's okay. It still served its purpose as my inspiration and made creating the card pretty easy.

All of the patterned papers on my card (except for the 1/2-inch strip) came from the cut-apart sheet in the Sugar Rush paper packet from Close To My Heart. I love using these 3x4 and 4x6 pieces of paper on cards; they're sized perfectly and always seem to work together well.


After adhering all the patterned paper, I stamped the sentiment in Pomegranate ink directly on the piece of patterned paper. This sentiment stamp comes from the Sugar Rush Cardmaking stamp set, which also has Thin Cuts to match. I just love those little donuts!


To finish the card, I added a few Sugar Rush Dots. I also edged all the papers in Whisper ink before attaching them to the card base.

Friday Favorites - Sugar Rush

Sugar Rush is the featured collection for January - and it's also one of my favorite paper packets from the new Seasonal Expressions 1 idea book!


I love bright and bold colors and designs, and Sugar Rush definitely has them! I also love the donuts and sprinkles, and I think these papers will be so much fun to work with.

January Workshops

Welcome Home Wreath Workshop
  • Sunday, January 29
  • 1:30-4:30
  • Cost: $5 - 44 (depending on materials needed)
Every January, Close To My Heart celebrates National Papercrafting Month as a way of acknowledging the pure joy of playing with paper! We scrapbook with it, we make cards with it, we decorate with it—in short, we craft with it! This January, they’ll be celebrating the joys of paper-crafted home décor with the beautiful Welcome Home wreath kit. This kit comes with pre-cut pieces you can simply pop out and attach to the sturdy chipboard wreath base, making a welcoming décor piece for your home.


During this workshop, you will take your wreath kit and put it all together. The kit includes everything you need except for adhesive. I would recommend Liquid Glass as a good adhesive for this project, and a Quilling Tool will also come in handy (although not required).


Cost:
The cost of the workshop depends on what you already own and what you want to use during the workshop. You can use other adhesives besides Liquid Glass, but you will need to have your own adhesive. A Quilling Tool is also a nice tool to have for putting this wreath together. Here are the cost options.


Sign-Up Deadline:
The deadline to sign up for this workshop is Thursday, January 19th. This will allow me to purchase the kits and other materials in time for the workshop.
